What we do
Dharmagyan CLASSES FOR CHILDREN:
Dharmagyan Classes for children in the Colony are as old as the Trust itself. Ever since the inception of the Trust, the said classes are being run with the primary purpose of making our children aware of the great religion we are born into, to take pride in its culture and rich history and to learn the value of our daily prayers. Started under the able guidance and tutelage of Late Ervad Rustomjee Panthaky it continues to flourish even to-day, more than two decades later. Ervad Ramiyar Karanjia, Principal, Dadar Athornan Madressa and student of Late Rustomjee Panthaky conducts the classes to-day. Started with a handful of children, today there are more than 80 children attending into two age groups every Friday (once a week). Ervad Ramiyar and his wife Havovi do a commendable job in imbibing Zorastrian values in our young ones, laying a firm foundation, most necessary, if a strong community is to emerge in the near future. Their innovative fun methods of teaching so captivate the children that they rarely miss Friday Dharmagyan class. Thanks to the efforts of this untiring duo the Colony is proud to have a youth, knowledgeable in their religion, roots and culture and immensely proud to have been born Zoroastrians.
Another facet of the Dharmagyan Class is that they take religion to the community. Over the last few years they have staged memorable religious shows captivating audiences everywhere with their unfailing ability to touch every Zorastrian soul. “Meherangeez”, “Behram Yazad”, “Never Without My Religion” are shows that have gripped many a Zorastrian heart, bringing alive a deep faith and immense pride in our religion.
Kudos to Ervad Ramiyar Karanjia, the great Zorastrian scholar, euradite speaker, a humble Zorastrian who reaches out to all who thirst for knowledge. Our gratitude to our great GURUJI Ervad Rustomjee Panthaky who laid the foundation of the Dharmagyan Class in the Colony and served selfless till his health permitted.
